Coaching Staff

Senior Head Coach/Director of Swimming: Brett Tongue (Silver License)

BRETT TONGUE has been involved with the Swimming Club since competing himself as a kid. His coaching career all started back in 1991 when he started doing squad coaching in three different pools a week with 2 swimmers, then it built to a squad of 20 swimmers based at the Pickering Brook Sports Club for two seasons. In 1994 he became Head Coach of Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club.

Since taking over as Head Coach of Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club he has overseen the club progress to many new levels.  This has included an increase in membership, participation in intra-club meets and higher levels of competition.  He formed a club program from learn to swim through to elite swimming to cater for the new direction of the swimming program. In 2000 the program went to new levels with the enclosure of the Forrestfield Senior High School swimming pool, for all year round swimming for all its squads and members.

During this time he has also been working for the Swimming and Water Safety section in the Education Department in a variety of roles from Swimming Instructor, Vacswim Country Coordinator, Equipment Coordinator and the Water Based Excursions policy.

Brett also restarted the Perth College swimming program after pool renovations for two years in 2006 and 2007 as the Director of Swimming. In 2012 he oversaw the amalgamation of Guildford Blues and Kalamunda Swimming club through his new position at Guildford Grammar School as Director of Swimming. The new Guildford & Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club was born and now an exciting partnership exists both for club and school swimming with Brett leading the way.

Brett has been producing national level swimmers since 1996 and the club has been enjoying the success ever since.
